American Protege International Music Competitions at Carnegie Hall

International Woodwinds and Brass Competition 2016

American Protégé International Woodwinds and Brass Competition is designed for solo performers and ensembles of all ages, nationalities and countries, who would like to challenge themselves in a very competitive environment. The Competition is open for Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Piccolo, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Flugel, Tuba and other woodwinds and brass instruments. Participants are required to submit video recording of recent performance for the audition.

Eligibility


 

We invite school students and adults to participate in the Competition. There is no age limit for the adult participants.

Multiple winners will be chosen in each of the following age groups:

Amateur (without Professional Degree)18 and older
College students and professionals18 and older

Winners performed on April 14, April 16 and April 22 of 2017 at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Katharina Martini, 17, from Dreieich, Germany, is a current student of Prof. Stephanie Winker at the conservatory in Frankfurt and student of her mother Christiane Martini since she was four years old. Since 2016 she received Award in the “Villa Musica” in Rheinland Pfalz(Germany) and the “Gerd-Bucerius” Award of the“ Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”. Katharina is a member of the national youth orchestra of Germany and a multiple First Place Winner of several international music competitions. In 2015, she received the first prize with the highest possible score in the national final round of “Jugend Musiziert” and a prize in the course of “Schleswig Holstein Music Festival”. Some of those prizes she has won with her own compositions for flute. In 2014, Katharina participated in a TV-production for a German broadcasting corporation. As a soloist and orchestral player, she took part in numerous CD-recordings and concerts in different churches and concert halls.
