American Protege International Music Competitions at Carnegie Hall

International Music Talent Competition Fall 2014

The American Protégé International Music Talent Competition is open to all instrumentalists (piano, winds, strings, brass, traditional, etc.), vocalists and traditional folk and jazz groups of all nationalities and countries. Participants are required to submit video recording materials for the audition. American Protégé is looking for genuinely talented people, who have creativity and stage charisma.

We invite talented performers of any age and genre to participate in the Competition.

All applicants who are signed with the manager or producer must submit via email a General Representation and Release Form signed by the Manager/Producer to be eligible for the Competition.

April 5, 2015 at 3:30PM and 8:00PM at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City

Scholarship, Judges’ Distinction Award Trophy and other Special Awards were granted based on the judges recommendations.

Ray Zhang and Xinyi Wang, Piano Duo

International Music Competition in Carnegie Hall New York 071

Ray Zhang, 8, from West Vancouver, Canada, started learning piano at the age of 5 with Fafan Xiao. He has received many awards and scholarships in local and international competitions. In 2013, Ray won the 1st place & judges’ distinction award of 2013 American Protege International Music Talent Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall. He performed in Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra 2012-2013 Closing Concert, in 2013 Canadian Accredited Independent Schools Heads and Chairs Conference and for BC Premier in Winter Gala. Ray won the 2nd place in Canadian Music National Competition in Quebec and the 3rd place in Los Angeles Young Musicians International Competition and received the special prize of most promising young musician. In 91st Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, Ray was selected to perform in the Gala Concert as the only piano winner of grade 1 to 6. Ray Zhang performed with West Coast Symphony Orchestra in University of British Columbia in 2014. He also performed in Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy and Kay Meek Theater in West Vancouver.

Xinyi Wang, 7, from Vancouver of Canada, started learning the piano at the age of 4 with Fafan Xiao. She participated in many competitions like Kiwanis, Clef Society, CMTAC and received many the awards and scholarships. In 2013, Xinyi Wang won the 2nd place at American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. Same year, she won the 3rd place in International Young Gifted Musicians Festival with performance at Steinway Hall, and participated in British Columbia Registered Music Teachers’ Association Student Performances’ Guild Music Festival, where she received two 1st Places, two trophies and the special judicator award. In 2014, Xinyi won the 1st place, received scholarship and won the trophy and special award in two other International Competitions and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. In 2014, Xinyi Wang performed with West Coast Symphony Orchestra in University of British Columbia. Orchestra in University of British Columbia in 2014. He also performed in Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy and Kay Meek Theater in West Vancouver.
