International Concerto Competition 2016

International Concerto Competition 2016 was open to all instruments, including strings, piano, voice and winds. Participants were required to submit video/audio recording materials for the audition.

Participants from across the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Poland, China, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, have applied for the Competition.

Eligibility


 

We invite school students and adults to participate in the Competition. There is no age limit for the adult participants.

Multiple winners were chosen in each of the following age groups:

International panel of qualified judges will evaluate audition materials. All judges are independent, and their students are not allowed to apply this season. The concert pianist and teacher Ms. Irina Kaufman-Brookes (U.K./Russia) is invited as a Chairwoman of the Concerto Competition 2016. A graduate from the Moscow Gnessin Academy of Music, classes of Prof. E. Lieberman and Prof. L. Naumov, Ms. Kaufman-Brookes won a number of the International Competitions and performed as a solo and chamber ensemble pianist with the Bolshoi Theater, Stanislavskiy and Nemirovich – Danchenko Opera Theatre, and many orchestras across the Europe and USA.

International Piano Competition in Carnegie Hall New York 33606

Caroline Fischer, 31, from Berlin, Germany, studied in Berlin, Mannheim, Geneva, Oslo, Hamburg and passed all eight final examinations with outstanding achievement, including two concert exams. Caroline has given concerts in major concert halls: Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin, Seoul Arts Center, Musikhalle Hamburg, Gumho Art Hall Seoul, Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus. She has played with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Korean Chamber Ensemble, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, New Symphony Orchestra Berlin and at the International Steinway Piano Festival, EXPO Hanover and Yeosu, Schleswig Holstein-Musikfestival. Caroline gave concerts during the state visits of the former German Federal President Roman Herzog to South Korea and Mongolia and performed in “Bellevue” castle Berlin for former Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. She has won 36 prizes and awards (first prizes, gold medals, public prizes) in national and international competitions: “Jugend musiziert” Competition, International Steinway Piano Competition Berlin, International Queen Sophie Charlotte Competition, International Competition for Young People Berlin, Köster Classic Preis-Klassik Radio Hamburg, Lions Club Mannheim Music Competition, Vienna Grand Prize Virtuoso, Classic Superstar Award and has released two CDs (Label Genuin).

Concerto Competition in New York

An accomplished violinist named as the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year in 2006, Hong Kiu Mak has performed around the world including in London, Prague, Warsaw, Athens and Beijing. A regular performer in the Windsor Festival, Hong Kiu has most memorably performed before Queen Elizabeth II in Her Majesty’s Jubilee. More recently, he was selected to a masterclass by world-renowned violinist Leonidas Kavakos. Hong Kiu’s success is marked by his winning both the violin concerto competitions for age 18 or under and for age 15 or under (at age 11 and 10 respectively) in the Hong Kong Music Festival. An accomplished pianist, he has also won the 13th and 14th Hong Kong (Asia) Piano Open Competitions. He obtained Grade 8 violin at the age of 8 and LTCL Advanced Diploma at the age of 11, all with distinction. Currently, he is under the tutelage of Prof. Maciej Rakowski.

Darya List, 10, received her first violin lessons at age four at the Jehuda-Halevi-Center in Vienna. In 2012, she was admitted as youngest student into the University of Music Graz. Currently she is studying in Vienna with Nicolas Koeckert and Anna Kandinskaya. Darya attended master classes with Petru Munteanu, Kurt Sassmannshaus and Sergey Kravchenko. She won 8 first prizes at international competitions in Italy, Czech Republic, Romania, Belgium, and Slovenia. Her debut orchestra performance, Darya gave at the age of eight with NSO Berlin (Sarasate’s Introduction and Tarantella). 2015 she was a soloist with the Capella Istropolitana, the Orchestra Classica Alessandria. Recently, her four concerts with the Slovak Sinfonietta (Mendelssohn, Sarasate, and Saint-Saens) have all been given standing ovations. Darya has also performed at the International Summer Academy of Salzburg Mozarteum, in Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia, Romania and Estonia. She plays a ¾ Andreas Ferdinany Mayr violin.

Music Competition in Carnegie Hall New York 34

Nikolay Marinov was born on 8th April, 2001 in the town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 2008 he started studying at the Plovdiv School of Music, where he has been taught piano by Svetlana Koseva. Nikolay has won more than 30 First Prizes and 5 GRAND PRIX from International Competitions all over the world.  Until now he played with the Sofia Symphony Orchestra, Plovdiv Symphony Orchestra, State Opera Stara Zagora and Vratsa Symphony Orchestra. Nikolay was the winner of the prize of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the President of Republic Bulgaria for high creative success and a number of awards and prizes.

Concerto Competition in Carnegie Hall New York

Woojin Nam, 15, lives in San Ramon, CA, and attends Dougherty Valley High School. She started Cello at the age of 7. Nam has been studying with Jonathan Koh since 2013. Starting 2013, Nam has competed in a multiple of competitions such as the VOCE competition (San Francisco Branch, 1st place, 2015) USIMC (2nd- place 2015, 3rd- place 2014), and Classic Alive Young Artists and have received numerous awards. She had the opportunity to perform as a soloist at the Peninsula Youth Orchestra concert as a winner of its annual concerto competition in 2015. She has also been a part of the Cal Music Prep chamber music program since 2014 and is expanding her experiences in chamber music- related competitions and concerts. In addition to cello, Nam also enjoys playing piano and guitar and in her free time, she enjoys listening to music.
