American Protégé is designed for young musicians, actors and singers on the path to a successful career. We invite all talented youth to demonstrate their potential during American Protégé 2020-2021 Season. The season’s program is in full progress offering a number of music competitions, including new ones, where the participants will have an opportunity to showcase their unique talents.
The American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music 2020, Summer Gala Concert at Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, International Piano and Strings Competition 2020, International Concerto Competition 2020, Woodwinds and Brass Competition 2019, International Vocal Competition 2020 and International Music Talent Competition Spring 2020 were a great success with a total of 36 Winners Concerts at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall and Isaac Stern Auditorium. We continue to grow and in 2019-2020 our Competitions attracted the largest number of very competitive applicants on record. They hail from every corner of the world including various parts of the U.S. and 63 other countries: Anguilla, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, China, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Republic of Georgia, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam.
American Protégé is the only music competition which offers an unprecedented opportunity for all instrumentalists, singers, and ensembles alike, to escalate the scope of their talents to new heights. Winners of the American Protégé Summer Gala Concert at Stern will be offered to perform at the world’s most illustrious music venue: the 2,800-seat Isaac Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.

Ellen DeGeneres welcomed 9-year-old Cameron Renshaw, an acclaimed cellist and American Protégé Winner, who has already played Carnegie Hall five times! He talked with Ellen about how he got into playing the cello and how he sees colors when he plays music.

A 12-year-old cancer survivor who learned piano as a young child while battling his disease unlocked a talent and passion that paved the way for a once-in-a-lifetime performance.

Christian Li, becomes youngest winner of prestigious Yehudi Menuhin International Competition:
Ten-year-old violinist Christian Li becomes the youngest winner of one of the world’s most prestigious international violin competitions, the Menuhin Competition. In 2017, he won first prize in the violin category of the Young Artist Semper Music International Competition in Italy and was also selected to perform at Carnegie Hall Isaac Stern Auditorium in NY in the American Protege Showcase 10-year Anniversary concert.

Elias Phoenix, 7, out of Brandon, Florida, entered the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition Fall 2013 in November 2013 and performed at the Winners Recital at Carnegie Hall. After winning the American Protégé Competition, Elias has performed twice as a featured guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has been featured on The Today Show, People Magazine, and other local and National news and media outlets.

This young talent has as delightful a personality as she has a knack for the piano: a First Prize Winner in the Young Musicians Category of the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition 2013, showed her talent at the Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 3, 2014.

A once homeless Florida college student is now realizing his dreams after placing in a piano competition that will allow him to perform at Carnegie Hall. James Matthews, 24, sometimes slept in his instructor’s piano studio for shelter while he was a student at Florida Southern College… In January, one of his instructors there suggested he submit a video of himself performing Sergei Prokofiev’s “Piano Sonata No. 7″ for the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition 2014.After performing at the American Protege Winners Recital on April 20th, James Matthews was invited to the Ellen DeGeneres TV Show on April 25th, 2014.
