International Piano and Strings Competition 2012 |
The American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition 2012 is open to school students and adults of all nationalities and countries. All instruments, including piano, strings, voice and winds are welcome to participate in the Competition.

Eligibility |
We invite school students and adults to participate in the Competition. There is no age limit for the adult participants.
Multiple winners will be chosen in each of the following age groups:

Awards |
First Prize winners will be given a performance at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Special awards may be granted based on the judges recommendations.
Second Prize and Honorable Mention Winners will be given a performance at Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center in New York City on the dates to be announced.

Judges |
Four qualified judges will evaluate audition materials. All judges are independent; their students are not allowed to apply this season.

How to Apply |
To apply for the Competition participants must submit:
1. A CD/DVD recording, DVD is preferable. Links to YouTube video recordings are acceptable.
2. A Completed Application Form
3. A short (not to exceed 1/3rd of a page) biography of the applicant (past participation in competitions, festivals and other public events) and a portrait photo in electronic format, should be sent via e-mail to info@americanprotege.com
4. Application fee.

Application Fees for solo performers - $150
Application Fees for duo, trio and quartet participants in all categories are reduced to $100 per person
Application Fees are not refundable.

American Protégé Piano and Strings Competition Rules: |
1. Audition time limit for the application DVD/CD:
| School students | 6 - 10 years old | not to exceed 10 min |
| 11 - 14 years old | not to exceed 12 min | |
| 15 - 17 years old | not to exceed 15 min | |
| Amateur/Adults | 18 and older | not to exceed 15 min |
| College Students/Professionals | 18 and older | not to exceed 15 min |
Duration of each piece submitted for the audition must not exceed 10 minutes.
2. Repertoire Requirements: Applicant may choose one or several pieces from the standard repertoire (Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Contemporary periods).
One movement of Sonata could be accepted as a separate piece.
3. Recording must be of a high quality. Recording materials must be labeled.
4. Contestants must perform from memory. No repeats. Music for the ensembles does not have to be memorized.
5. The DVD/CD will not be returned.
6. Judges comments will not be disclosed. Judges' decisions are final and can't be appealed.
7. First Prize Winners may not submit the same audition program for the following season.
8. The final selection of winners will be based solely on the audio/video recordings submitted.
9. Winners of the Competition will perform one piece selected by the judges from the participant's audition repertoire.
10. No changes of repertoire are allowed after the application is submitted.
11. Competition results will be published on American Protégé web-site on February 11, 2012.
12. The Certificates will be granted to the performing winners only, after the Winners Recital.

Winners Recital Information: |

1. Winners of the Competition will perform one piece selected by the judges from the participant's audition repertoire. 2. Participants' fees for the Winners Recital at the Hall, including five tickets and Certificate are as follows: Recital Fees for soloists is $250, for performances less than 7 minutes; for performances longer than 7 minutes but less than 10 minutes, an additional fee is $90. Recital fees for ensemble members are reduced to $170 per person. Performance time limit is 7 minutes Recital fees are not refundable. 3. Detailed Recital Guidelines will be emailed to the winners. 4. Winners who have chosen not to participate in the Winners Recital for any reason may be disqualified. 5.
